Are you a determined, decisive and rigorous Senior DevOps Engineer who knows your way around the tech circuit, from networks and software to hardware and operating systems? We’ve been looking for you.

An asset to every step of the software development lifecycle, you’re known for the solutions you come up with under tight constraints – in fact, you’re motivated by those limitations, and love puzzling things out. You’re an efficient, hands-on planner with a soft spot for automation and a severe allergy to incorrect time estimates. Developers love you because you help them make great process decisions, and everyone else respects you for making those decisions with the bigger picture in mind. If you’re the kind of person who enjoys working across multiple verticals, finding the through-lines around what’s working and what’s not, you’ll thrive in this role.

  • to use your wealth of experience to take the reins, source solutions and make outstanding engineering decisions.

  • decisive and strategically-minded
  • thrifty when faced with new challenges
  • eager to work across multiple projects and collaborate across disciplines
  • open to self-reflection with a growth-mindset
  • continually up-skilling in technologies and software architecture principals
  • hands-on and cybersecurity-focused throughout the software development lifecycle

  • a leader in establishing CI/CD methodology to deliver nimble, modular, testable deployments
  • practiced in policy/process development for technical teams and stakeholders
  • a rapid prototyper
  • able to make seamless handovers into production or for other technical staff
  • able to define, create and exercise code standards
  • employing your DevOps mindset to foster team best practices

  • Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Bitbucket, Cloudflare, Sendgrid
  • cloud interfaces (specifically AWS, but also Google and Azure)
  • app stores provisioning
  • secret and certifications management
  • familiarity with SecOps and penetration testing is a bonus

  • flexible working
  • equity tokens
  • enhanced leave benefits
  • your birthday off
  • professional development grants
  • working toward carbon-neutrality
  • events, retreats and field trips (once it’s safe)
  • squash
  • work BFFs

Applying to work at Josephmark

JM knows better products begin with diverse teams. That’s why we strongly (see italics and underline usage) encourage members of underrepresented communities to apply. If you think you’re the one for us, fill out the form below.

P.S. If you’re reading this and thinking, “oh no, I only tick a few of those boxes so I’m not going to apply.” Don’t be silly. If you’re a standout human, we won’t care that you play squash like a newborn giraffe. Ya feel?

Sharon Ronen

Want to know what it's like to be on the Dev team at JM? Meet our Senior Developer, Sharon.

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve worked on at JM? All the projects I have worked on at JM have been extremely interesting. The latest one was the Tammy Fit app for Tammy Hembrow. Developing the app and adding features while supporting thousands of live users was extremely stressful, but rewarding at the same time.

How long have you been in the industry for? I have been in the industry for a year and a half since I joined JM. Before that, I was working in different industries – mostly developing distributed systems.

What’s the best thing about working at JM? Definitely the people. Everyone is amazingly supportive and caring. They’re a group of talented and devoted people who I love working with.

What’s the worst thing about working at JM? The trade-off between developing the perfect project and the budget/deadline. Sometimes it can be very stressful and frustrating… however, launching at the end is very satisfying.

What’s something people might not know about being a developer at JM? Our developers are always involved in the development and implementation of the product from beginning to end, including technical direction and UX flows. We have the freedom to use any technologies, frameworks and libraries that we wish, and encourage our devs to keep up to date with the industry technologies and upskill.

What advice do you have for anyone looking to grow as a developer in our industry? Have the passion and hunger to learn new things every day.

Link us to something cool.
