About Josephmark

At Josephmark, we believe a better future happens by design. We are a venture studio, specialising in design, digital product, and venture strategy. We partner with passionate people and like minded companies to envision a better way to work, live, and play – whether that’s bringing a pre-seed startup from 0 to seed through our VaaS model, breathing new life into legacy brand identities, or crafting new digital products and brands that propel the world forward.

About the Team

JM is made up of designers, developers, strategists, writers, storytellers, shapers, and technologists. We are a mission-driven team looking to build the future we want to see. Our studios work collaboratively across Australia (Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast) and Los Angeles.

What we are looking for

Due to an exciting new project kicking off soon, we’re looking for an Augmented Reality Developer (Unity) to join the team on a contract basis. We offer flexible working hours and locations, but you will be required to work with Brisbane time zones.

As our AR Developer, you will play a crucial role in bringing our vision to life by leveraging your expertise in Unity and the Niantic Lightship SDK. Reporting to the Product Strategist and working closely with the Experience Designer, you will be responsible for building and refining our game’s AR features and ensuring seamless integration with mobile platforms.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop highly modular AR features and interactions using Unity and Niantic Lightship SDK to spec
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Strategist and Experience Designer to align AR elements with project goals and design specifications
  • Optimize AR performance and ensure compatibility across target devices and platforms
  • Test and debug AR components, working with QA testers to identify and resolve issues
  • Keep up to date on industry trends and advancements in AR technology, bringing new ideas and techniques to the team
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of project milestones and sprints
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure an integrated and cohesive final product

Necessary skills and experience:

  • Highly proficient in developing in C# with Unity
  • Experience with game design for AR
  • Strong understanding of mobile app development and cross-platform compatibility
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Passion for creating an engaging and impactful experience
  • Experience with continuous deployment to Google Play and Apple app stores

Bonus if you also have:

  • Familiarity with UX/UI design principles and accessibility considerations
  • Experience implementing 3D character assets and animations
  • Experience designing or developing educational or mental health based products in any capacity
  • Experience with Niantic Lightship SDK or similar AR SDKs

What’s in it for you?

Ultimately, you get to tap into a supportive JM network balancing small team founding vibes. As a valued team member you have the ability to advocate, prioritise, and work collaboratively on all aspects of product development and build. This is a great opportunity to work closely alongside product, design, and other engineers to implement solutions to user problems and gain exposure to commercial business decisions that drive growth.

This contract will go through till December. We prefer this position to be in close proximity to our Brisbane office but are open to fully remote applicants within Australia who can align with BNE (AEST) timezones. Please note that you must be based in Australia and sponsorship is not available for this role.
