What we're looking for
We’re looking for a Design Director who’s as comfortable leading direction as they are designing the work. Someone who can set the vision, inspire the team, and roll up their sleeves when it’s time to bring ideas to life.
This full time role will lead and work alongside our product, brand, and motion designers to deliver world-class outcomes. You’ll shape the studio’s creative direction while actively designing, whether that’s crafting a digital experience, refining a brand system, or prototyping a concept for a new venture.
You might come from a product design background, fluent in blending beauty and functionality, or a brand/creative direction background, with strengths in storytelling, identity and visual expression. What matters most is your ability to be a dependable and inspiring leader who elevates the work.

- This role operates at the intersection of brand, product and technology. You’ll guide work that spans digital platforms, identities, systems and ventures — ensuring clarity, coherence and craft across disciplines.
- As a design-led studio with a strong history of venturing, you’ll help define how ideas move from concept to reality — balancing creative ambition with commercial viability and the realities of building and scaling new businesses.
- You’ll have genuine influence over the studio’s creative output, culture and standards, shaping not just individual projects but the long-term evolution of Josephmark’s design practice.
You'll be responsible for
- Driving design excellence across every project, from initial idea to launch.
- Guiding and mentoring an aspirational team: giving feedback, sharing knowledge, and nurturing craft.
- Collaborating with clients, founders, and internal teams to bring products and brands to life.
- Helping define and evolve Josephmark’s design practice and standards.
- Balancing project delivery with design direction: setting the bar while contributing directly.
You'll bring
- Leadership or senior-level experience in a studio, agency, or product environment. Ideally, with both hands-on design work and team leadership.
- Depth in either product design (visual identity, UX/UI, design systems, interaction) or brand/creative direction (identity, art direction, storytelling), with healthy curiosity for both.
- A strong sense of craft and attention to detail. You still love making things.
- The ability to inspire and lead a small, tight-knit team.
- Comfort switching between strategic thinking and detailed execution.
- Excellent communication skills, you can articulate ideas clearly to both teams and clients.
